“We live with great expectation, and have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven… pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. […]
Belong to Eternity but stranded in Time. These are such picturesque words! It is that fragile balance of the “already, but not yet.” His promises are ours now, but there is a Day coming when we will experience them in a richer fullness. For example, Jesus already overcame death through His resurrection. I rejoice for […]
Heading home from my mom’s the other evening, I found myself flying down a familiar road. It is a gravel road shortcut that I’ve used many times in my life. Trying to multitask, I was on the phone with my sister through the Bluetooth in the car discussing some of Mom’s needs. Suddenly something caught […]
Did you know that Sue Thomas was a great lover of good music, and did classical concerts in her younger years, even though she couldn’t hear a single note? When we were in the Netherlands, we had a private tour of The Beje, which is the name of Corrie Ten Boom’s home where the family […]
The first gift I ever received from Sue Thomas was this little figurine of two gals sitting on a bench. She described that we would never be able to walk down the road or wash dishes together or work side by side chatting like I did with my other friends. Communication always needed to be […]
Sue lived life with an expectant sense of adventure. Nothing seemed to inhibit her enthusiasm. Not even broken toes. We were on a 20-hour flight sequence to Hyderabad, Andrha Pradesh, when it happened. Somewhere in the air between London and Turkey the foot rest in the cabin seat crashed down pinning Sue’s foot. I remember […]
Sue:
I just wanted to say how much a true blessing you are to me in many ways. You and I were both born in 1950. My birthday is May 20th. I have an identical twin. My name is Suzanne and my twin’s name is Suzette.
I am soon to take a trip to Jacksonville, Florida to spend two weeks with my best friend Paige. She is also deaf and reads lips. She found out she was deaf at two years of age. Her parents were a blessing as yours were to you. She completed college and is now retired. Her field was in the medical field as a records analyst within a hospital in Jacksonville where she and I met. The Lord truly blessed me upon meeting her. We spent many good time together and continue to cherish our friendship.
I will continue to pray for you and your ministry. Always remember only say what The Lord says about you…you are more than a “conquerer” through Jesus Christ. You are truly loved by so many as a Sister-in-Christ.
Blessings….Suzanne Harlan

Hello Sue,
Enjoyed getting this post! Any chance CIU would post a script along with their podcast for Deaf people to access, as well? Would love to read what you said in its entirety.
Hope this finds you and Deb well. Think of y’all often.
Love, Jana
