How far is it to Bethlehem? Not very far…

(watch the video below)

We’ve returned from the distant land of India where we were renewed and strengthened in our spiritual walk. Many lessons were learned and we were left challenged by forsaking all for
the glory of God and the gospel of Christ. More to come on that in future posts as we have brought back a real burden and love for the dear people there.

Today we are well underway with preparations for our outreach to the homeless in Washington DC. This year is our Tenth Anniversary spending Christmas Eve and Day on the streets with the homeless. What started out as 25 Arby’s sandwiches has grown to  feeding over 200, a bus filled with blankets, coats, and other warm items for  winter survival, and giving each a BACKPACK filled with personal care items.OSN backpack

This year the team consists of sixteen people along with the lunch truck stocked with hot meals and the shuttle bus packed with many items. This year a special gift was designated that covers the cost of brand new backpacks, and we will be able to pack gloves, hats, sweats, socks, toilet paper, brushes, combs, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other personal care items into each backpack to give as a “home” for those on the streets.

Will you join us, friends? Will you come with us through your prayers or your monetary gift? How far is it to Bethlehem – not very far!

May you and your loved ones experience the radiant joy of Jesus on this blessed Silent Night!

     SEND A BACKPACK

How far is it to Bethlehem?
Not very far.
Shall we find the stable room
Lit by a star?

Can we see the little child,
Is he within?
If we lift the wooden latch
May we go in?

May we stroke the creatures there,
Ox, ass, or sheep?
May we peek like them and see
Jesus asleep?

If we touch his tiny hand
Will he awake?
Will he know we’ve come so far
Just for his sake?
