It will be 19 years in February since I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and I marvel at the hand of God in sustaining me through every day of these years. Now after 19 years, that is indeed, old!
Isaiah 43:19-21 King James Version (KJV)
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the dessert.
Yes, this New Year I am seeing the fruits of that seed planted and buried. By totally relying on God and being faithful to His nudges and leading, I have lost almost 140 pounds during this slow daily journey.
But it has been slow and not an overnight sensation. People ask, “how have you done it!?” My response is simple, “I kept my mouth shut and I prayed!” Yes, there was more to it, I gave up carbs and sugar and ate protein with much fish, little red meat and lots of salad with a lot of Prayer, Thanksgiving and Praise!
I marvel at the Hand of God bringing me to this new thing and just in time for my 70th birthday the end of May! The number 7 is known as completion and today by the grace of God I will have completed this mission and be a new leaner healthier me to continue my race for His Glory.
Jesus is the Victor as I could never have done this on my own as I love pasta and bread and potatoes too much, I simply had to let go and let God! Keeping my eyes upon Him with every urge and temptation has made all the difference for me.
Yes, something old, and something new is all about our journey into the Presence of the Lord. Whatever God is leading you to, give to Him every second and it shall come to pass.
May you be strengthened and encouraged as you begin a new thing. Remember, not you but Jesus in everything! Jesus is Victor in all and everything!!
Blessings on your journey,
Sue Thomas, FBI

God is awesome with timing. I have been trying this year to work on losing weight. I really need to lose at least 100 pounds and reading your article while at the gym waiting for a friend to join me has been moving.

Finally getting around to reading your post. Congratulations Sue. I also have family members who struggle with weight and a couple of them have had the bypasses done. It is only a tool, not a cure. You are doing the CURE. At times when I have needed to lose I choose to do it also with prayer and altering of my diet. Fats is my biggie, but if I watch it, along with the Lord, I can succeed, and have recently reached a goal……..almost. I need about 7 more pounds. Again, congratulations, and hopefully we will see more of you when you return to Water Brooks. Blessings, Bonnie/Ted Kenyon

Your story is amazing already, Sue, and I never cease to be astounded at how the Lord leads you. Thank God that He IS sufficient in our addictions and all our needs as well. I pray to be sensitive to His tiniest nudge, to follow Him as close as I possibly can, enabled by Him Who alone is able!
